Camera Trickery

In this short live action clip I am experimenting with video editing, compositing and video effects.
I drain the colour from the film then swipe the colour back into frame from the bottom of the screen. Next I experiment with editing the video clips so I appear to vanish into thin air.
I then alter the clip layers so it appears that there are several Daves walking towards the screen at once.

Cropping Video

In this video, I experiment with cropping out one side of the frame so it appears that I am interacting with my 'twin'. I animated the centre parting in accordance with where the characters were on screen at the time to avoid cropping out and arm.

Snap!



This is my first experiment with stop camera video editing. I shot this film as one large video file and cropped out the parts in which I move between poses. This gives the illusion of a magical effect.

Kira

I created this short video as a present for my daughter on her 4th birthday. I used transparent effects that were composited in Adobe After Effects.

Firestarter

This special effects test was my second experiment with Adobe after effects. I added a tracker between my hand and a flame video with transparency. Next I added a glow effect to the back wall and my body using an animated semi transparent orange circle. Simple.

Lightsaber

My first experiment with Adobe After Effects. I gave my son a toy lightsaber and rotoscoped over it frame by frame with the assistance of a tracker, with a glow effect. Add some sound effects, and bingo, instant handheld death sword.

Hermitage Waterfall

The beautiful waterfalls at the Hermitage, Perthshire, Scotland.
There is a small building that overlooks the falls. From the balcony at the rear of the building  the falls flow almost beneath you, down into the basin below.

Windy Day Time Lapse

I recorded this time lapse video from my living room on a really windy April afternoon. I recorded 20 minutes of footage which I then compressed into 30 seconds.

Sunset Time Lapse



I created this time lapse video by using an hour and a half of footage of the sun setting behind the Tay Railway Bridge on the River Tay. All that, crammed into a minute! :)

It's Magic!

I created this video of me levitating a piece of paper and sticking it together as if by magic by simple recording it in reverse and flipping the video. At one point I had to crop out myself tripping over daughter's bed as I was walking backwards!

College Theft

Believe it or not, this one was actually a College video project. In a group, we collaborated in the recording this video, however I edited and added a small camera effect at the end, in the final film.
